Meet Nicole Rivor: The Heart & Soul of Third Street Fitness

I started my journey into the health and wellness world through a unique origin: children’s fitness. Serving as a lead instructor and the director of the Tustin My Gym Children’s Fitness Center for almost 9 years, I helped hundreds of kids, aged 6 months to 8 years, hone their fine & gross motor skills through group classes filled with exercises embedded in fun games, relays, and stories. At the same time, I was a dance instructor at Newport Dance Theater and Endeavor School of the Arts for three years, where I taught jazz and hip hop to children, teens, and later, adults.

Through working with kids and adults alike, as well as getting to know my students and their extended families, I realized that there is a gap in the fitness world - a lack of attention on adults who don't want to be a part of the “gym rat” culture; they just want to be the healthiest version of themselves. And as a dancer who began in a studio at age 3, then later got a degree from UC Irvine in Dance Performance, and is now a professional performer in LA, I know firsthand how movement can better a person’s wellbeing - no matter what age they are. One of the best and most beloved dance professors at UCI was in her early 60s, and dance kept her mind sharp and her body moving.

There’s plenty of resources for highly active adults, but virtually none for older adults or those just beginning their fitness journey. I want to bridge this gap and show that fitness is for everyone, regardless of where they are in life. My motto is “You are stronger and more capable than you think.”

Preventative measures are the key to unlocking your best self, and healthy habits such as regular exercise are one of the best ways to keep your body - and mind - in tiptop shape. But many people run into a common roadblock: they don’t know where to start and big gym weight rooms can be intimidating when you’re not sure how to use the equipment. Here’s where my boutique fitness approach comes in. Through one-on-one workout sessions in my private studio, I help adults build their strength and confidence, which not only leads to healthy changes in the body and mind, but has a positive ripple effect upon all aspects of my clients’ lives.

My understanding of how the body moves and how it changes from infancy to adulthood allows a special approach to personal training. I know how core stability, proprioception, and balance skills can drastically affect day-to-day life. Big, sculpted muscles look great, but everyone needs functional muscle. And that’s my goal in the fitness world: to help everyone strengthen their body’s functional muscle so that you can live without limits; so that you can say, “Why not?” when it comes to activities; so that you can take care of the vessel that carries us through this life.

My motto is “You are stronger and more capable than you think.”
